FAQ

Everything a business owner asks before switching.

Grouped by what you’re actually deciding: getting started, money, and how the product behaves. Something missing? The answer is usually one email away.

Getting started

What happens between “I heard of Starboard” and a QR code on your counter.

Can I try Starboard before I pay?

Yes. The three-step setup (your business, a couple of quick taps about you, then your first QR code to try) is free, no card required. You only pick a plan to open the dashboard.

Do printed QR materials require a paid plan?

The first QR code from onboarding is free, and digital QR codes stay free to download and print on every plan. Laminated standees, vinyl stickers and NFC cards are optional paid add-ons.

Plans & billing

Rupee figures, location caps, and how to leave.

Is pricing per business location?

Each plan includes locations: one for Starter, up to five for Growth, fifteen included for Business. Additional locations beyond your plan's included ones are ₹100/month each, on every plan.

Can I cancel or change plans anytime?

Yes. Monthly plans cancel anytime from Settings with no notice, and annual plans get a prorated refund for unused months.

The product

Platforms, privacy and the leaderboard — how the loop actually behaves.

Which review platforms do you support?

Google, Zomato, Practo, Justdial and TripAdvisor today, routed automatically by business category. More platforms ship as we add categories.

How is this different from other QR review tools?

Starboard routes each rating to the platform that fits the business instead of only Google, and every scan is credited to a staff member on a live leaderboard — neither of which the single-platform tools in this category offer today.

Is this allowed by Google?

Yes. Every customer is always offered both options — post a public review or send private feedback — and can pick either one; Starboard never hides, blocks or auto-redirects a review away from a public platform based on the rating. By default the option that fits the star count is shown first and highlighted, and the business can turn that off on the Routing page to show both equally. Google's review policy asks businesses not to selectively solicit positive reviews, so read it and decide what fits your business. Read Google’s review policy

More questions, answered plainly

The ones that come up in onboarding calls, not on pricing pages.

Are the AI-drafted reviews fake reviews?

No. The draft is a starting point shown only to the customer who had the experience, and nothing posts without their explicit tap. They can edit every word or write their own review from scratch.

Do low ratings get treated differently?

They see the same two options. By default the private note is shown first after a low rating and the public review first after a high one; either can still be chosen, and you can turn the highlight off. Private notes land in your dashboard with the rating, time, location and staff counter attached; public reviews go to the platform the customer picked.

Do you support WhatsApp alerts and multiple languages?

WhatsApp alerts are on the roadmap and marked "coming soon" across the site — they will push every review, public or private, to the owner's phone the moment it is submitted. Languages ship in two halves: the dashboard already drafts review replies in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and English today; the customer-facing rating flow itself is English only for now.

Can I use one QR code for my whole business?

Yes — but you lose staff attribution. One QR per staff member is what powers the leaderboard; a single shared code still collects reviews, it just cannot credit anyone for them.
